Dra. Candy Flores Gracia

Lead Instructor

Dr. Candy Flores-Gracia is a biologist, she got her Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences from the UNAM and Master in Technology and Science Commercialization by the IC2 Institute, in conjunction with the University of Texas at Austin and the Center for Research in Advanced Materials.

She has taught the Licensing of Rights and Technology Transfer offered by the Mexican Institute of Intellectual Property (IMPI) and teaches in the Masters in Management of Technological Innovation of the Universidad Iberoamericana León, and in the undergraduate programs of the National School of Higher Eduction of the UNAM Campus León and the Sanmiguelense Institute.

She is a member of the Licensing Executives Society International (LESI) and the Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM).

Since 2009 she has focused on the transfer of technology and intellectual property, first in the Innovation and Development Coordination of UNAM, then as part of INAOE’s research management team and later as Director of Innovation in the Irapuato Unit of Cinvestav.

She is currently Director of the Agrobioteg Innovation Park, where she helps researchers and entrepreneurs with business ideas based on biotechnology to create, incubate, and accelerate their technology-based companies.

Itzam de Gortari Huitron

Instructor

Dr. Itzam De Gortari earned his doctorate in physics from the University of Cambridge (UK) and worked in research and development for more than 10 years. As an entrepreneur he has obtained seed capital and is a founder of companies in the Biotechnology sector. He has consolidated his experience in business by obtaining a Master’s degree in Business (MBA) in Madrid from Instituto de Empresa Business School. Dr. De Gortari is a pioneer in the implementation of Lean Startup in Mexico and has given several seminars, workshops and courses for the training of entrepreneurs in Mexico, the United States, Morocco (GIST Tech-I Competition 2014), Kenya (GIST Tech- I Competition 2015) and Colombia. With the delivery of these workshops he has managed to form networks of mentors and teams of entrepreneurs contributing to the development of Innovation. As Managing Director of the TechBA program in Seattle, he has supported more than 120 micro, small and medium-sized technology companies to develop new products and successfully participate in the international arena. In this way it has contributed with its scientific, technological and business experience for the economic development of Mexico. With this volume of business cases, he became an accomplished trainer of the Lean Startup model.

As a researcher, Itzam De Gortari worked in research and development at prestigious research institutions such as the Max Planck Institute and the Cavendish Laboratory. As part of this previous work, he contributed to theoretical NMR chemical shifts as a tool for determining the structure of proteins. Subsequently, he undertook postdoctoral research to study the formation of amyloid fibers; major macromolecular structures related to Alzheimer’s disease. Consequently, Itzam has published scientific papers in high impact international journals.

He is an active member of different associations and organizations such as the US-Mexico Chamber of Commerce Northwest Chapter (USMCOCNW) and the Washington Biotechnology and Biomedical Association (WBBA). He also collaborates with the Autonomous University of the State of Morelos and various economic development agencies such as the Economic Development Council of Seattle and King County, World Affairs Council and clusters of technology and innovation.

Luis Alfonso Quero Rodríguez

Instructor

Mechanical Engineer Administrator at ITESM with a master’s degree in Production Management at Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden as well as a Diploma in private capital and entrepreneurial capital at Anahuac University. Luis Alfonso currently works as the Executive Director at Cluster Food in Guanajuato in charge of positioning the cluster at the regional level, responsible for the office of productive articulation and the marketing office, negotiation for the signing of collaboration agreements with Academia, research centers and government entities. He was previously the Executive Director for Parque Tecnológico Sanmiguelense as being its representative in the presence of:

State Council of Energy, Automotive Cluster in Guanajuato CLAUGTO, Food Cluster in Guanajuato CALIG, Business Coordinating Council in San Miguel de Allende CCE-SMA, Foreign Trade Promotion Coordinator COFOCE. Luis Alfonso has been an instructor (in the process of accreditation by the National Science Foundation and CONACYT) Binational Node in Advanced Manufacturing and Processes (NoBi MAP) led by CIDETEQ. Melissa E. Flores Quiroga

Associate in Nimbus Innovation Center giving workshops of innovation to corporates, in the University of Monterrey UDEM she teaches Business Creation and Innovation in YEII (CEO) Development of entrepreneurship program, implementation, establishment of strategic alliances, material design, training of teachers, mentoring and coordination of experts and entrepreneurs for conferences, organization of YBC competition Neomitic Technologies SA of CV has designed innovative new products, technological solutions, industrial design, graphic and software development, hardware, packaging and innovation consulting.

She has been a Judge for various entrepreneurship competitions in Possible, Cleanthech, Hultz Prize, ITESM, UdeM among others.

Imparts workshops and Panels, as well as mentors in different Startups.

She has a Santander Prize for Business Innovation in 2006, third place.

Catalina Garza de la Fuente

She has more than 10 years of experience in research, development and operations in the food industry, having worked for Grupo Sigma and Pepsico México companies. She developed new lines of business and products for clients such as Alegro International, Hershey’s and Wal Mart, and carrying projects in Mexico, the United States, Spain and Costa Rica.

 

Entrepreneur and co-founder of Nutrition All and Ideas Gourmet, companies with a technological focus dedicated to the elaboration and commercialization of healthy prepared foods in modified atmosphere, distributed in convenience stores, self-services and industrial canteens in the northeastern region of the country.

Delegate for the Standards and Food Traceability Working Group at the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland in 2012 and 2013.

 

In the public sector, she was director of nutritional surveillance, food programs and community development of the State Government of Coahuila and coordinator of projects and funds of innovation in the Council of Science and Technology of the same state.

 

She has a Master of Science in Technology Transfer from the University of Texas at Austin and the CONACYT CIMAV Center. Engineer in food industries from the Technological Institute of Monterrey, with a specialty in human nutrition by the Autonomous University of Coahuila. Graduated from IPADE’s Private Senior Management Program. Diverse studies in innovation policies, technological management, quality and food technology. Co-author of the book “System of Capitals and Markets of Knowledge” published by the World Capital Institute and Tecnológico de Monterrey. For 7 years she has been a consultant in the management of innovation and technology transfer projects. Currently she is the Director of Innovation in Enture Smart Business.

Alberto Ibarra

Asistente de Enseñanza

Engineer in communications and electronics from the University of Guanajuato FIMEE, with a Master of Science in Mechatronics Engineering. Has a Diploma of Project Management in UNIVA León, certifications in systems of predetermined times and movements MTM-1, certification MTM-UAS, EAWS certification. He currently works as a Manager of Industrial Engineering and Production Systems at Volkswagen de México SA of CV. His activities include personnel planning, calculation of productivity indicators of the plant, coordination of continuous improvement of the plant, coordination of the training of tools Lean to new operatives, management of the Lean Center and generation of institutional programs for the improvement of the organizational climate.
